Boldon School were recommended Bigfoot Arts Education Tyne and Wear by our creative agent, as part of an equiry project with Creative Partnerships. Their first imput to our termly cross-curricular theme was a tailor-made drama session about the Olympics. During the course of a morning in school, Bigfoot practitioners worked with the whole of Year 7- 240 Students-our biggest year group! Positive feedback was overwhelming by both staff and students.
Quotes from student evaluation forms:
What was good about the drama?
"All the shy people got to express themselves"
"Taught us to be more confident and loud"
What did you learn from this session?
"To be confident"
"That I can work with anyone if I try"
"How to communicate better and not be embarrassed"
"You've got to be yourself"
"If you listen to other people you will understand how people feel and what they think"
Bigfoot had such an impact that we invited them back to run this terms theme of Healthy Living and it has been fantastic to see "Jeremy Kyle" scenes acted out in our theatre! We are very excited about working on a transition project with Bigfoot next year involving primary feeder schools.
Bigfoot work with a very basic brief and produce excellent sessions, devised to engage any year group or ability range and covering any topic. We have already benefitted hugely from their expertise and advise- practitioners are becoming a regular addition to our team of staff. Most importantly, students are hugely enjoying creative activities enchancing their thinking skills, confidence and self esteem.
